Early signs your child may need physiotherapy
Milestones vary a lot between children. These are the ones worth getting checked early.
Children reach milestones at their own pace, and a few weeks either side of a textbook age is usually nothing to worry about. What is worth checking is a pattern rather than a date.
Worth an assessment
- Not sitting without support by around nine months
- Consistently favouring one side of the body
- Walking on toes well past the point most children stop
- Frequent falls, or tiring far faster than other children the same age
- Difficulty with stairs, jumping or catching well beyond their peers
None of these mean something is wrong. They mean it is worth an hour with a physiotherapist who works with children, because early intervention is far easier than late correction.
